The Generosity of Trees
I am primarily a painter of landscapes, from the world around me as well as from within. All landscapes emerge from roots, and in the landscape around me, trees rise up to anchor life.
From their early sapling beginnings to maturity as leafy giants, and even into their afterlife, trees nourish everyone. The Generosity of Trees Collection honours the spirit of these living entities that devote every phase of their existence to supporting. life.
My Creative Process: What is revealed when you follow different pathways?
The Generosity of trees started here, in these drawings of remarkable trees. As I drew, a question popped up: what happens if I link the lines I see in different ways?
The answer revealed a world of possibilities. It confirmed what I had always known: trees harbour life in all the phases of theirs.
The work shown here is a testament to the discoveries my drawings uncovered, in living colour!

Acrylic and Collage on 2 36 × 24 canvasses
As I explored the generosity of trees, I extended my process to include the use of other media.
The work in this section is an evolution from the original drawings, but it also offers an exploration of texture.
These paintings are highly textured, using collage and recycled materials. They intend to convey a more accurate representation of the diversity of tree bark, while still embracing my love of whimsy.
