WHAT’S ON MY EASEL?

A PEAK ONTO THE CANVAS OF MY CREATIVE LIFE

Mother Nature may be may be reluctant to spring this year, but the energy of new beginnings is in the air.

After a long, cold winter, I am happy to tell you that this exceptionally challenging season was very productive. I have been developing a new collection entitled The Generosity of Trees. This body of work is composed of sixteen drawings rendered in watercolour markers, as well as four paintings. I am also currently working on a new piece, comprised of collage and paint on paper.

You can view the drawings and completed paintings on the site, in the Collections tab, entitled The Generosity of Trees:

In addition to creating a new body of work, I am also preparing to participate in a series of exhibits throughout the spring and summer seasons. From local exhibitions close to home to shows held downtown Montreal, you can discover my new work in several locations in and around the city. You can check out the dates and places here:

In addition to creating, I also ventured into a new area. I had the opportunity to take part in an interview on my art practice and its role in my life, hosted by my colleague Lavi Picu

to learn about what makes creates tick. All episodes of this podcast, entitled 3R Artists, can be found on Spotify. Lavi’s insightful questions tap into the power of creativity as a source of resilience, one of the key elements that link creative work as a support for mental health.

I continue to be an active member of the art community in my region. I will be animating art workshops at the Oasis Créatif in Vaudreuil on the Friday, May 8th, from 11 am to 4 pm.

The Oasis Créatif is a creative space open to all, at no cost. Everyone is welcome,! Simply click on the link above to learn more.

I will also be co-hosting a fun creative evening organized by the city of Pincourt on Wednesday, July 22nd. All Pincourt residents are invited to the Pavillon Desjardins, located just outside the OmniCenter, for an evening of painting paired with a glass of wine. Stay tuned for more information about these fun Wednesday evenings this summer.

As may of you may know, I have been involved with the Design Committee of the City of Pincourt for many years. This group of local artists focus on beautifying our lovely town with public artwork. Over the past two years, our group of over 30 local artists have themed created painted panels that now grace a series of connected alleys. These alleys, bordered by private fences, had been the target of graffitis in the past, Unlike the work of urban artists, these fences were covered with undesirable messages and scribbles. Our group of artists undertook the task of replacing this graffiti with artwork in various themes: the neighbourhood, trees, and a colourful zoo of animals linking the way to a public elementary school. All this work was completed by volunteers! The city councillor who started this project, Denise Bergeron, submitted our project in a competition recognizing valuable community projects. We won! You can click on the link below to learn all about our project, and to view the work done by other community groups. There are a lot of creative, community-minded people everywhere!
